The Cellar, Chester

The Cellar, Chester - new website design and build.

Project specification: To build a new responsive website that embodies the personality of the Cellar Bar and lets its visitors know all about the Cellar and what events and beers they have on.

Having worked with Sophie building the Corner House website, I was delighted when she asked me to take on the rebuild project of their sister bar, The Cellar. I wanted to create a modern design that set it apart from the Corner House, but also made you feel that they were from the same family. It was great to have the opportunity to work with a design that is a little different as their business really lends it's self well to the style.

The Cellar had an existing website that was functional but needed updating to a modern responsive platform - so we started from scratch. As with the Corner House, Sophie needed to have overall control of the website and to be able to add events such as sports fixtures and beer tastings, blogs and her social media accounts herself.

As ever, it has been a total pleasure to work with Sophie on this project. It is wonderful to work with a really driven business that is keen to learn and and utilise their website to it's potential. I wish them every success and look forward to hearing about bar number three! (I'll keep my eyes peeled for a potential venue :)

Morris Mountains: Marketing Health Check

Morris Mountains: Marketing Health Check

As with most small businesses, Rebecca, Owner of Morris Mountains does not have full time marketing support to help run her business. Rebecca and I met at the Cheshire WiRE networking group and asked if I could offer some advice and guidance with her marking efforts.

I suggested that my Marketing Health Check workshop would most likely suit her needs as she had the starting point with her marketing materials and tools such as a website and social media accounts, but just needed some guidance on her key messages, customer profiling to create cohesion between all her marketing materials.

In the time we had together we made a great start in producing some new branded images to use across all her platforms, nailing her key messages, understanding who her clients are and how best to reach them, working on her existing website to make sure she is clearly directing visitors to the key points and some hints and tips on improving her organic SEO and utalising her social media platforms. Not bad for a mornings work!

I look forward to seeing how Rebecca continues to promote her fantastic business and hopefully I can join her for a retreat in the New Year in beautiful North Wales.

The Cornerhouse Bar, Chester

The Cornerhouse Bar, Chester

Project specification: To build a new responsive website that both represented the Cornerhouse visually and also lets readers know what to expect on their visit and what events are on.

Sophie and I first met when at my Thursday Freelance group in Hoole. I had also visited the Cornerhouse several times to sample the delicious wine and cheese! The Cornerhouse had an existing website that was functional but needed updating to a modern platform - so we started from scratch. Sophie was keen to have overall control of the website and to be able to add events, blogs and her social media accounts.

It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Sophie on this project. It it fantastic to work with a really engaging business that is keen to learn and really drive forward their business and utilise their website to it's potential. I would highly recommend a visit to the fantastic Cornerhouse if you are in the area - and if you are a cheese lover, you can't go wrong!

The Energise Group

Project overview:

Project specification: Re-working and designing an existing website to support a new direction in Duncan's business.

Last year I had been working with Duncan on both his business strategy and also creating a website for his consultancy services. Since then his business had developed into offering a wider range of services that his current website was not supporting. To support his new business direction we wanted to create a platform that encompassed his wider reach and also that he would be able to develop and grow with.

We wanted to create a feeling of energy that reflected his business with use of bold colours and a clean and easy to navigate platform. We wanted to create a balance of professionalism to showcase his skills and service offerings to his clients - but also not be too 'run of the mill' with an overly corporate look and feel to his brand.

Whoo Hoo Gift Bags

Project specification: New web design, E-Commerce shop, logo design, domain name transfer, copywriting and photography plus business support and training.

Fiona from Whoo Hoo Gift Bags had an on-line store with ETSY, but wanted to create a more personal service for her customers. She wanted to create a store that reflected her and her products - keeping it fun, upbeat and showcasing her wonderful bags. Being able to manage the store herself was important as she wanted to feel in control over her business, without being tied into costly agency fees.

Keeping it simple to navigate was important, as we wanted to make sure the customer journey was easy - and making sure that we were directing the customers to the store. Before the build took place we had a planning meeting where we worked through our customers and how we would communicate with them - this really helped the design process and made sure that we stuck to the brief.

Max from Max Newall Tree Services had an existing website that was serving him well, but it was a few years old and he didn't feel that it still represented his business and felt he wanted something new and fresh.

Keeping it simple and easy to navigate was important to him, as was showcasing some of his work. He also needed to explain some of the services he offered so people understood the work Tree Surgeons perform.

During our scoping meeting, Katie gave me an overview for what she had in mind for her new website. She wanted it to look pretty, visual, attractive, and functional to reflect her and her clients needs.

Brooke Solutions

Project overview:

Project specification: New website, business and copywriting support

When we met, Harriet already had an established consultancy business. She needed a new website to support her venture. Harriet had already invested in the branding, and had a very clear idea in her mind of how she wanted the website to look.

Through the project scoping sessions, we wanted to create a website that looked clean, bright and professional. It needed to showcase her experience and skills as well as being easy to navigate. She had a clear understanding of who her audience was, so wanted the copy to reflect that.
